چکیده
ABSTRACT We present a study of photochemical hazes exoplanet atmospheres based on self-consistent model including haze microphysics, disequilibrium chemistry, and radiative feedbacks. derive the properties required to match Hubble Space Telescope observations 10 hot-Jupiters. HAT-P-12b, HD-189733b, HD-209458b, WASP-6b require mass fluxes between 5 × 10?15 9 10?12 g cm?2 s?1 observations. WASP-12b WASP-19b with equilibrium temperatures above 2000 K are incompatible presence better fitted by heavy metals. HAT-P-1b WASP-31b do not show clear evidence for upper 10?16 s?1, respectively, while WASP-17b WASP-39b an flux limit s?1. discuss implications we limits abundances photochemistry results. Our results suggest HCN as main precursor up 1300 effective CO above. derived fit consistent formation yields ?6.4 per cent. Disequilibrium chemistry has negligible impact spectra considering low-resolution used but impacts chemical composition temperature profiles. find that produce hotter atmosphere detectable spectra. Clouds may have interpreting transit WASP-31b, WASP-39b. Nevertheless, silicate iron clouds is expected in all studied except WASP-19b.

On the Inference of Thermal Inversions in Hot Jupiter Atmospheres
Several studies in the recent past have inferred the existence of thermal inversions in some transiting hot Jupiter atmospheres. Given the limited data available, the inference of a thermal inversion depends critically on the chemical composition assumed for the atmosphere. In this study, we explore the degeneracies between thermal inversions and molecular abundances in four highly irradiated h...
متن کاملDynamics and Disequilibrium Carbon Chemistry in Hot Jupiter Atmospheres, with Application to Hd 209458b
Chemical equilibrium considerations suggest that, assuming solar elemental abundances, carbon on HD 209458b is sequestered primarily as carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH4). The relative mole fractions of CO(g) and CH4(g) in chemical equilibrium are expected to vary greatly according to variations in local temperature and pressure. We show, however, that in the p = 1–1000 mbar range, chemical...
متن کاملThe atmospheres of Mars, Venus and Jupiter.
The general properties of the atmospheres of Mars, Venus and Jupiter are reviewed. The evolutionary processes of planetary atmospheres are outlined as an introduction to a detailed discussion of the structure of the atmospheres of other planets. The most recent observational results indicate that the surface pressure on Mars could be as low as 20 mb, and the amount of CO2 may have a mixing rati...
متن کاملJupiter ' s Hot , Mushy
Jupiter's moon Io is the most volcanically active body in the Solar System. Observations by instruments on the Galileo spacecraft and on telescopes atop Maunakea in Hawai'i indicate that lava flows on Io are surprisingly hot, over 1200 oC and possibly as much as 1300 oC; a few areas might have lava flows as hot as 1500 oC. Such high temperatures imply that the lava flows are composed of rock th...
